Monthly Gardening Tips: Awakening the Spring Garden

April is the time when gardens in Cherrybrook really begin to come back to life. This month is all about preparing soil, planting early flowers and vegetables, and getting lawns and beds ready for the growing season.

🌱 This Month's Gardening Focus

  • Clear the Beds: Remove weeds and winter debris to prepare for new growth.
  • Mulching: Add compost or bark mulch to retain moisture and improve soil.
  • Planting: Plant sweet peas, early potatoes, onions, and hardy flowers.
  • Lawn Care: Start mowing lawns lightly and edge borders.

This month is a great time to get children involved in gardening.

  • Plant sunflower seeds in pots
  • Grow cress in a small container indoors
  • Decorate a plant pot and plant flowers
  • Start a small bug or insect spotting diary

Kids Tip: Sunflowers are one of the easiest plants for children to grow and are great fun to watch as they grow taller.
